Setup a .Mac Account

For example, you are holding a .Mac account named steve with the password topsecret and like to have a weblog under the link http://homepage.mac.com/steve/blog.

To create a new .Mac publisher:

  1. Press the "+" button in the lower left corner of the Publishers window. The new publisher will appear in the table. Enter a name for the new publisher.
  2. Fill out the information in the "Feed" tab. You may use the "Enabled" checkbox to activate and deactivate this publisher.
  3. In the "Contents" tab choose the journal to publish.
  4. In the "Account" tab enter the following information:
    Type:               .Mac
    Destination Folder: /blog
    Account Name:       steve
    Password:           topsecret
    
  5. Choose a layout and your display options in the "Layout" tab.

Setup a local Publisher

For example, you like to have a weblog under the link http://yourmachine.com/blog or http://yourmachine.local./~steve/blog.

To create a new local publisher:

  1. Press the "+" button in the lower left corner of the Publishers window. The new publisher will appear in the table. Enter a name for the new publisher.
  2. Fill out the information in the "Feed" tab. You may use the "Enabled" checkbox to activate and deactivate this publisher.
  3. In the "Contents" tab choose the journal to publish.
  4. In the "Account" tab enter the following information:
    Type:               Local Volume
    Destination Folder: ~/Sites/blog or /Users/steve/Sites/blog
    Base URL:           http://yourmachine.com/blog or http://yourmachine.local.
    
  5. Choose a layout and your display options in the "Layout" tab.

Setup a local test Publisher

For example, you like to have a test weblog under the link file:///Users/steve/Desktop/test-blog.

To create a new local test publisher:

  1. Press the "+" button in the lower left corner of the Publishers window. The new publisher will appear in the table. Enter a name for the new publisher.
  2. Fill out the information in the "Feed" tab. You may use the "Enabled" checkbox to activate and deactivate this publisher.
  3. In the "Contents" tab choose the journal to publish.
  4. In the "Account" tab enter the following information:
    Type:               Local Volume
    Destination Folder: ~/Desktop/test-blog
    Base URL:           file:///Users/steve/Desktop/test-blog
    
  5. Choose a layout and your display options in the "Layout" tab.

Setup a Publisher for a Remote Site

For example, you like to have weblog under the link http://yourwebsite.com/blog.

To create a new remote publisher:

  1. Press the "+" button in the lower left corner of the Publishers window. The new publisher will appear in the table. Enter a name for the new publisher.
  2. Fill out the information in the "Feed" tab. You may use the "Enabled" checkbox to activate and deactivate this publisher.
  3. In the "Contents" tab choose the journal to publish.
  4. In the "Account" tab enter the following information:
    Type:               Local Volume
    Destination Folder: ~/Documents/mywebsite/blog
    Base URL:           http://yourwebsite.com/blog
    
  5. Choose a layout and your display options in the "Layout" tab.
  6. In the "Expert" tab add a transport script under "Execute this script after the publishing process has ended:". For example, you may use this AppleScript script and Panic's Transmit to copy your blog to a FTP server.
